This page sets out exactly what IBEC is, what it issues, and what is issued by our independent Certification Partner. We would rather be plainly understood than impressively vague.
Legal Status & What IBEC Does Not Do
IBEC is a professional membership organisation and training provider with its own charter, code of conduct and standing committees. IBEC is not a certification body and does not award personnel certification. Personnel certification offered through IBEC is awarded by an independent Certification Partner under a written agreement, and IBEC acts as an authorised training and enrolment channel for that partner. IBEC's income comes from training, enrolment administration and membership; none of it can influence a certification decision, because IBEC does not make one.
Quality Assurance Framework
IBEC maintains its own quality framework for the parts it controls, and relies on the Certification Partner's framework for the parts it does not:
A documented certification scheme for each credential — authored and maintained by the Certification Partner and published to candidates before enrolment.
Separation of duties between IBEC (training, enrolment, community) and the Certification Partner (scheme, examination, evaluation, award, result appeals).
A recertification cycle operated by the Certification Partner, supported by IBEC continuing professional development.
Defined confidentiality, conduct and complaints policies at IBEC, each owned by a named committee, and a separate published appeals route to the partner for examination results.
Independent oversight of the assessment process by the Certification Partner's committees, in which IBEC holds no seat.
The identity of our Certification Partner and the full documentation of the arrangements underpinning each scheme are held on file and are disclosed to candidates, employers, regulators and auditors on request under the appropriate agreement.

Standards of professional behaviour expected of IBEC members, trainers and training partners.
Role Clarity & Non-Misrepresentation Policy
Requires IBEC, its trainers and its partners never to claim IBEC awards personnel certification, in any medium.
Data & Confidentiality Policy
Governs handling of candidate data and what IBEC may and may not receive from the Certification Partner.
Appeals & Complaints Procedure
Defines which disputes IBEC resolves and which are referred to the Certification Partner.
Recertification & CPD Policy
Explains the partner's renewal requirements and the IBEC CPD activity that counts toward them.
Training Partner Agreement
Defines the rights and obligations of registered IBEC Training Partners, including how they may describe the credential.
